Who are we?

Basildon Choral Society is an amateur chorus with a repertoire that ranges widely from motets, masses and challenging modern choral works to spirituals, jazz numbers and arrangements of songs from favourite musicals. We have four seasonal concerts and give a variety of additional performances throughout the year at the request of churches, charities and private organisations - either with the full ensemble or the BCS Small Choir.

Our membership includes - amongst others - teachers, students, schoolchildren, farmers, politicians, marine geographers, botanists, ornithologists, engineers and those enjoying their retirement.

We're an adventurous bunch and have taken concerts to Basildon's twin towns in France (Meaux) and Germany (Heiligenhaus), as well as to Bruges, Erlangen, Florence, Gossweinstein, Lille, Ostend and Rome.

We have also performed joint concerts with other choral societies, notably Horsley Choral Society and West Sussex Choir.

We are key participants in both the Essex Festival Choir and the Sussex Festival Choir.

We are regularly accompanied by the Sinfonia da Chiesa.
